SAA Seeks to Resume Codeshare With National Airline

Kigali — South African Airways (SAA) is contemplating a move to restore codeshare flights with RwandAir (WB), an official from SAA has said. SAA Head of Group Corporate Affairs, Fani Zulu, told Business Times in an email interview that SAA's partner airline, SA Express (SAX), has applied for the rights to operate the Johannesburg-Kigali route.

RwandAir welcomes its second Boeing 737-500 aircraft and launches additional flights to Jo’burg. Expanding Rwandan national carrier, Rwandair Express, has recently purchased its second aircraft, a Boeing 737-500, with 102 seats, 12 business class and 90 economy.

Rwandair changes times to benefit better connections

RwandAir has announced schedule changes to its operating programme from August 1st, 2010.
The changes to the flying programme of Rwandair include earlier departures of 1000HRS (Local time Kigali) to Johannesburg every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday plus the airline will operate an even earlier departure of 0100HRS (Local time Kigali) to Johannesburg every Thursday.

RwandAir privatization will come

The Rwandan national airline, RwandAir, is continuing to work towards achieving operational and financial status, which will allow the government to rekindle the search for a partner airline. This information was given last week by the chairman of the board of directors of RwandAir Mr. John Mirenge. The airline only very recently recruited a new CEO, Mr. Rene Janata, who previously held senior management positions with Germany’s Lufthansa – making it an interesting constellation when privatization efforts get underway again after two years of relative inactivity.

 

Rwandair gets first of two new Boeing 737-500's

Rwandair, the national airline of Rwanda, has incorporated the first of two leased Boeing 737-500 aircraft into its growing fleet of aircraft.
The new aircraft arrived at the airlines home base at the international airport in Kigali.
