With a population of 90,500, the majority of Entebbe's residents are civil servants for government ministries. Others make their livelihood through agriculture, fishing, producing consumer goods, or through small-scale industry. The primary languages are English and Lugandan. Entebbe is 21 miles from Kampala, the capitol of Uganda, and on the shore of Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in Africa.

Entebbe has the status of a game sanctuary, and main attractions include the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre, the Botanical Gardens, and beaches along Lake Victoria.

Entebbe International Airport is the main international airport of Uganda. It is located near the town of Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria, and about 35 km from the Uganda’s capital, Kampala. The main offices of the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda are located at the airport as well.
